电影讲述了一名小女孩发现自己拥有奇异能力，竟能看到别人幻想出来的“友友”。而“友友”们也遭遇了生存难题：随着想象出他们的孩子已经长大，“友友”们逐渐被人遗忘，需要新的孩子们救赎，一场全新的冒险也就此开启。
电影《神秘友友》由约翰·卡拉辛斯基（《寂静之地》）执导，瑞恩·雷诺兹、艾米莉·布朗特、马特·达蒙、菲比·沃勒-布里奇、史蒂夫·卡瑞尔、山姆·洛克威尔、乔恩·斯图尔特、奥卡菲娜、理查德·詹金斯等出演，将于5月17日在北美上映。
